Croatian winery Ernest Tolj adopted a ‘less is more’ approach to developing a distinctive visual identity for their premium range of wines. The sleek, clean lines of the black glass bottle are emphasised by the lack of a front label, with the brand instead opting for a combination of an intricate neck wrap inspired by the winery’s ancient window grilles, and a premium hangtag in heavy stock, printed and foil embossed for a beautifully tactile and refined yet rustic look. The tag was suspended from the bottle neck using loops of waxed cord and the whole look was finished off to perfection with a Marque aluminium label, embossed with the brand logo and applied to the top of the cap. The label on the reverse of the bottle was equipped with a dry tab enabling easy removal before the bottle is brought to the table. The bottle was is wrapped in tissue paper made from tea paper to increase the gift element and protect the bottle. Signet’s work was instrumental in the brand’s achievement of a Red Dot Design Award for this packaging.
Already a Scottish icon, Eden Mill Distillery’s small batch craft gins are as well known for their beautiful bottles as for the delicious contents. For their original, award-winning gin the company’s minimalist approach goes to new heights – a simple white bottle, with bronze print and a matching wax seal. For opening this wax, Eden Mill wanted the experience to be as clean and smooth as the product itself – and Signet’s ribbon tear strips provided the ideal solution.
Distilled in small, artisan batches in Exmouth using pure spring water from nearby Wimbleball Lake, Copper Frog Gin captures the spirit of Devon in both the flavour and visual character of this distinctive and quirky spirit. Copper Frog came to Signet looking for a bottle sealing solution and with wax the preferred option, the discussion on colour was very short! We supplied a beautiful copper wax, precisely matched to the foil branding on the label, for a consistently eye-catching solution that really enhances the bottle.
Blending the rugged charm of Speyside with the urban sophistication of modern Scotland, Caorunn’s artisan gin expertly infuses five locally foraged gin botanicals which are represented in their branding with a stylized, five pointed star logo. Previously screen printed on their bottles, Caorunn wanted to make this logo really stand out and they approached Signet for help. Our Coronam product was actually developed in response to this brief; we experimented with sandwiching and heat fusing a number of substrates together to create a three dimensional piece with the tactile appeal of die cast metal or plastic, but with all the lightweight, flexible benefits of a sticker. Robust and vibrant, the finished piece was perfectly colour matched to Caorunn’s signature red and copes effortlessly with the complex curve on their contemporary bottle’s shoulder.
Produced by England’s foremost gin distillery, G&J Distillers, Berkeley Square Gin stands proudly alongside the world’s most prestigious spirits. Smooth and refined, it’s often referred to as the single malt of gins – and the grand doorways of its native Mayfair are the inspiration for its iconic door knocker emblem. For a relaunch of the gin’s packaging, Signet was proud to help Berkeley Square develop a series of embellishments that would reflect the prestige and refinement of the gin. We created a stunning embossed metal neck collar to further enhance the decanter-style bottle, and produced a beautiful die-cast badge in the shape of the brand’s lion door knocker logo. This was manufactured in two pieces before being riveted together, and fits perfectly into the custom recess on the bottle, with the ring being free to move just like the real thing. Finally, we designed and produced a simple yet stunning Marque Aluminium Label to adorn the front of the bottle, featuring a mix of printing and embossing techniques for a truly deluxe appearance.
A firm favourite of royalty, celebrities and supermodels, Abahna’s range of deluxe bathing and body products was inspired by ancient bathing rituals in India and the Far East. The focus of the whole brand is on the simple luxury of bathing and this is reflected in the pared back luxury of the packaging which uses simple shapes and minimalist styling combined with flourishes of ribbon lending a tactile quality. The company wanted a decorative item that could be combined with ribbon for easy application and a premium look. Signet worked with them to develop a die cast charm in the style of a faux wax seal, finished in matt gold to match their existing branding. The charm was cast in two parts and then crimp sealed onto a golden ribbon loop, with the ends splayed. This meant the seal could be quickly and easily applied to each bottle neck, and held securely in place by the cap.
For an extra aged, limited edition bottling of their famous single malt, Tobermory wanted a simple embellishment that would elevate the whole experience for the consumer. Signet created a beautiful die cast charm featuring the company branding in a natural zinc finish, created in two parts and crimp sealed onto a quality cotton cord. This was then attached to the bottle neck and secured with wax to create a beautiful security seal.
Now one of Dublin’s most famous districts, The Temple Bar itself has historically been at the epicentre of Dublin’s whiskey-blending culture. For their signature blends – named numbers 47 and 48 after the pub’s address – the company approached Signet for help in creating a bespoke cartouche that would eventually adorn all its bottles. The bar itself was the inspiration, with a small etched image of its iconic frontage being embossed into flexible aluminium and given a burnished gold finish, creating a lightweight, self-adhesive label that fitted snugly into the location space on the bottle shoulder.
The Macallan’s Easter Elchies Cask Selection is an annual, limited edition release which pays tribute to Easter Elchies House, an ancient manor which sits in the heart of The Macallan Estate. Signet was tasked with recreating an old Macallan tradition in which each bottle of whisky would be wrapped in a red or green grosgrain ribbon, sealed with a wax stamp. We printed a bespoke, self-adhesive ribbon using gold foil to denote the Easter Elchies variant, and used real wax to produce custom seals for hand application to the ribbons. These embellishments were applied to both the bottles and the boxes for this deluxe whisky offering.
In a limited edition Father’s Day collaboration with department store Selfridge’s whisky brand Haig Club developed an innovative metallic foil gift bag containing a 70cl bottle of whiskey and adorned with a detachable metal keepsake tag, which could be personalized in store. Signet was tasked with the creation of the tags, which were laser etched with Haig Club branding on one side and ready to be engraved with a message of the customer’s choice on the other. The tags were attached to the eyelet on the bags with a ball chain also supplied by Signet.
Woodhill Gin is a Danish gin brand produced in close collaboration with the world famous Thames Distillery. Key to communicating the very contemporary personality of the brand was the ability to tell Woodhill’s unique story while also accessorizing the minimalist bottle in a very premium style. Signet produced a booklet-style hangtag attached to the bottle with a simple cotton cord and finished with a custom, die-cast charm featuring the Woodhill logo.
Suffolk Dry Gin takes the renowned quality of the London Dry Gin production methods and introduces a secret blend of botanicals to deliver a tantalising, countryside twist. This beautiful craft gin uses only the finest ingredients and each batch is painstakingly hand crafted – so it’s understandable that the distillery wanted to demonstrate this commitment on their packaging. A faux wax seal from Signet makes the perfect statement, lending prestige to the bottle and completing the tamper evident closure with a miniature replica of the brand logo. The seals were produced in a range of colours to help the customer differentiate between the different gin flavours on the shelf.
A truly special product, Sandeman’s Old Tawny is the result of 30 years’ careful ageing in wooden casks, with gradual exposure to air which concentrates the flavours and matures the ruby colours to amber, creating this rare and delicious port. Having chosen a simple bottle and label to evoke the years of work that go into making each bottle, Sandeman wanted a final flourish that would underscore the provenance of this special edition. Signet created a beautiful faux wax seal with a ragged edge giving the appearance of real wax and a handmade finish in a product with the flexibility to adhere to the bottle’s natural curve and the robustness required to perform in a retail environment.
With a 200-year legacy distilled into each bottle, Powers Gold Label whiskey is of superior quality and undisputed heritage. The quintessential Irish whiskey is as definitive now as it was in 1791. When reintroducing their famous whiskey in a new, contemporary bottle, the folks at John Powers asked Signet to help create an embellishment that would distinguish the product on shelf and act as a keepsake for the whiskey lover. We produced a beautiful die cast tag, plated in copper and antiqued to enhance the relief and the overall effect. The tag was attached to the bottle with a simple loop of black elastic, and these were supplied on cardboard rolls for ease of handling and application.
A single estate spiced rum produced on the island of Mauritius and named after the rare and beautiful native bird of the same name, Pink Pigeon rum’s heritage stretches back for centuries. Distilled from locally-made sugarcane molasses, the dark and delicious nature is captured in the authentic, vintage-style black bottle with its white printed finish. The company wanted to bring a splash of colour and texture to the bottle and Signet did this by creating a pink silicone neck collar that fuses classic with contemporary and features the brand’s inspirational slogan. Injection moulded in the round, the collar simply passes over the bottle neck and has just enough stretch to hold it in place without the need for adhesive.
First launched in 1909, Old Parr is an iconic blended Scotch whisky with a distinctive bottle shaped like an old time flagon and made from crackled glass. The brand’s longevity is key to the overall identity and when it came to creating a bottle embellishment and security seal it was key that the design should reflect this. During the brainstorming process it was clear that only a genuine wax seal would deliver the authentic experience demanded by this heritage brand and so we created a beautiful seal with a charming handcrafted look, featuring the image of the whisky’s famous namesake, Thomas Parr. The seal was bonded onto a red satin ribbon that combines with a shrink wrapped neck capsule to create a tamper-evident closure.
Founded in 1973, the Montrose Scotch Whisky Company produced quintessentially Scottish blends including Pipe Major and Old Montrose. The company commissioned a faux wax ‘seal of quality’ to breathe new life into the existing bottle design for the latter; Signet created an intricate decoration featuring the brand logo and a distinctive ribbed background. The seal was curved to perfectly fit on the shoulder of the bottle and injection moulded onto a self-adhesive grosgrain ribbon enabling it to be mounted under the neck capsule to create a beautiful security seal.
An iconic Scottish Single Malt, Signet was honoured to be selected by The Macallan to create a charm for its famous 1851 Inspiration whisky, which is inspired by centuries-old whisky samples. These whisky heavyweights deserved a similarly weighty embellishment and Signet was tasked to create a chunky charm to be affixed to the bottle neck. We created a distinctive brass embossed emblem suspended from a golden ribbon and combined with hand-dipped bottle sealing wax to create a stunning, tamper-proof finish.
Released especially for the travel retail market, Macallan’s 1824 collection is an Estate Reserve drawn from casks selected for maximum intensity of flavour and bottled at a traditional strength of 45.7%. Beautifully seasoned, these rare bottles are deserving of a beautiful package and Signet delivered the perfect finishing touch with the development of a chunky die-cast badge, finished in brushed gold and crimp sealed onto a navy grosgrain ribbon to match the box. The badge is also magnetic, and fits precisely into a location area on the top of the box, serving as a smart closing mechanism.
