Concerns about coronavirus and its impact on the economy are uppermost in the mind of businesses around the world right now, from tiny sole traders to huge global corporations.  With Governments moving to restrict travel and increase social distancing, it’s understandable that many of our clients are among those worried about how their production will be affected by disruption to supply chains.

When we hear that a country like Italy is in ‘lockdown’ for example, we imagine the entire workforce holed up in their houses – but of course, this isn’t the case.  We’re in close contact with all of our European production, including our die-cast facilities hub in Italy, and so far we’re pleased to report that it’s business as usual, albeit with some extra precautions.

While large social gatherings and non-essential travel have been banned in Italy, people are still able to travel to work if their job can’t be done remotely.  As such, our Italian die-casting facility is still operating at full capacity, and is anticipating no disruption to the supply of raw materials.  Currently, there are no restrictions on the movement of goods throughout Europe but just in case, we are receiving multiple shipments per week from our Italian facilites as a precautionary measure.  This means completed goods are being held at Signet for onward shipping, and we are able to hold stock for clients wishing to order now, to secure their supply in the medium term.

As a business, Signet is committed to keeping abreast of the unfolding situation around COVID-19 and providing continuity of service for our clients while also safeguarding all of the people in our supply chain, from our production teams to our office staff.

We have a commitment to professionalism in all areas of our business and we’re confident that the contingency plans we have in place will minimise or eliminate any disruption for our clients.

By keeping the lines of communication open, taking sensible precautions and following all Government and Public Health guidance, we’re confident we can steer through this challenge.
