THE BACKGROUND
An existing customer of Signet for some time, Dunnet Bay Distillery produces Scotland’s iconic Rock Rose gin with its signature porcelain bottles. A family enterprise, each batch is created by ‘Elizabeth’ the copper pot still, and each bottle is hand filled and sealed for a distinctive look and feel that has endeared the brand to fans all over Europe.
THE BRIEF
Dunnet Bay has a reputation for having creative flair when it comes to product promotion and brand recognition. Having seeded the idea of a ‘graduation cap’ point of sale add-on, that consumers could couple with their Dunnet Bay purchase, Signet was approached to bring the quirky idea to life.
THE SOLUTION
Having experimented with multiple design solutions, including developing a delightful miniature mortar board from semi rigid synthetic felt, complete with a tiny tassel, the finished product was precision produced to perfectly fit the Dunnet Bay bottles.
The final product created an eye-catching, distinctive promotional addition that helped Dunnet Bay stand out on shelves as an obvious choice for consumers looking for a graduation gift.
Ease of fitting was a consideration, knowing that shops would be able to add and remove the caps to bottles at point of sale for graduation promotions, and at key times of the year. The product also needed to be sturdy enough to withstand shipping as the caps were also to be made available for customers to purchase online at any time.
THE RESULT
Instantly recognisable and a hit amongst consumers, both in stores and on social media, Dunnet Bay reported an excellent response both in terms of sales and the overall ‘feel good factor’ associated with the promotional graduation caps. Cost-effective, iconic, and instantly recognisable, the products help Dunnet Bay stand out on the shelves, are easy to store, and the classic styling means they’ll never date.
