THE BACKGROUND

Five times distilled Cavoda Vodka styles itself as an innovative brand, inspired by elite pop culture, with a nod to ancient French distilling traditions. The world’s first illuminated vodka bottle is equally at home in a music video as it is amongst the elite nightlife of cosmopolitan cities. With an allure that lies not only in its ground-breaking visual design, but also in its impeccably smooth, sophisticated taste.

THE BRIEF

Having already established an iconic illuminated bottle and instantly recognisable branding, Cavoda was looking to add a further sensory experience to its long, sleek bottle, in the form of an audible “clink” against the glass when the bottle was handled.

Approaching Signet through its award-winning design agency Linea Design, Cavoda was keen to ensure that the premium quality, elite cultural links, and forward-thinking brand values were communicated effectively through this additional piece. The audible element was designed to create a further noticeable experience to the consumer.

THE SOLUTION

Collaborating closely with the team at Linea, using the existing branding design which features an LED unit in the base to light up the bottle in a series of colours for a truly enchanting effect, Signet remained mindful of the ultimate look for the product and suggested several potential solutions.

Whilst the brief was to create a free-hanging charm that would add an auditory layer to the pouring experience, we knew that this would also need to reflect the magical, ethereal quality of the overall design.

We developed a beautiful, eye-catching charm. Based on the original artwork for the bottle, die cast in zinc and finished in glistening chrome to match the high-end feel of the brand.

As a premium brand it was also critical that the charm should remain securely in place when the bottle was tipped and withstand transit and repeated handling.
Having experimented with a range of options for securing the piece, we designed a sliding noose, concealed within the two-part body of the charm itself, which was sealed after the cord was added. Once attached, the cotton cord was pulled to tighten, holding the charm tight against the bottle neck as desired, while still allowing it to move against the glass.

THE RESULT

Delivering a simple yet stunning adornment that elevated Cavoda’s innovative packaging beyond the ‘novelty’ into something truly decadent. The weight and intricacy of the charm brings visual gravitas to the bottle as well as lending the sensory element that the client was looking to achieve. The aesthetics and sound of the charm ringing against the sleek glass bottle perfectly epitomised the premium, cultural experience that Cavoda was striving for.

Stunning in its simplicity and yet innately practical, this premium embellishment played a key role in Cavoda’s success at the international Pentawards, where it scooped a silver medal for packaging design.
