Stringent quality control is a fundamental element of Signet’s business. Bespoke and often assembled by hand, our products adorn some of the world’s most prestigious brands, so it’s essential they meet the highest expectations.
With this in mind, we’ve developed robust procedures to ensure our products satisfy the demands of a complex chain of decision makers, including marketing teams, design agencies, procurement teams, quality engineers, technicians and project managers.
Our QC process actually begins in the product development stage. Our research and development team’s vast experience is invaluable during this process as we strive to create a solution that meets the client brief while simultaneously assessing any potential production snags or risks presented by the design.
Once a design has been chosen by the customer, a sample is created and we move to the testing stage. Signet products are routinely evaluated on performance, functionality, and durability. We test products at every key stage, focusing on vibration, compression, drop and climatic testing, and performance during transit. Where requested, the services of specialist laboratories and recognised industry standard testing will be contracted.
After testing and prior to production, our design and realization department creates a specification board for the manufacturing partner. This board is the benchmark for all future production and includes size, design and colour details as well as the all-important customer approved sample.
Samples are randomly selected from across each and every production batch before being compared against the approved sample and spec board to ensure the agreed standard is met. In the rare event that a problem arises, Signet’s robust Quality Non-Conformance (QNCF) procedure is triggered. This involves detailed liaison with all parties to ensure swift and satisfactory resolution of any quality issues.
We’re always happy to discuss your requirements for quality. This might include 100% checking, or even the creation of a custom jig to ensure a product is perfectly shaped to fit a moulded substrate. We work closely with the customer to establish agreed manufacturing tolerances when it comes to sizing and colour uniformity.
Signet’s quality control extends beyond the products themselves to the supporting elements such as backing paper, adhesive and location devices, and also to our manufacturers’ facilities and policies. All suppliers are regularly audited in line with our ethical, environmental and sustainability credentials to ensure optimal efficiency and working conditions.
We have ISO9001 accreditation, we were awarded an Ecovadis Gold Award for 2018, and we’re also an active Sedex AB member. Sedex are the worldwide, independent framework supporting sustainable supply chains.
